Coastal towns in Cork are to benefit from substantial funding from the Fisheries Local Area Group Development.
Eighteen coastal community projects in Cork, from Baltimore to Fountainstown, will benefit from an estimated €241,100 in FLAG funding this year.
One of these projects is a diving school in Cork Harbour who's owner hopes to promote the underwater beauty that Cork has to offer.
The grant which is co-funded by the Government and the EU, will be used to introduce people from all walks of life and ages to marine life on Cork's Coast.
And speaking to RedFM News, marine biologist and scuba diver, Dave Quinlan says he hopes to educate young people about marine life and the damage that can be caused to our local waters:
