It follows the recent seizure of a quantity of illicit alcohol from an apartment in Cork last month as part of an investigation involving the Revenue Commissioners, the Food Safety Authority and the Health Service Executive.

It's understood almost 250 litres of the alcohol was being distilled per week, before being sold to those sleeping rough in the city. 

It's been reported the substance was having a very negative affects on those consuming the so-called "poitín"
