Concern expressed about organised begging in the city centre after 15 arrests

It's emerged 15 people were arrested in the city over the weekend in relation to organised begging activity. 

It follows concerns that those in need and some charities will suffer in the run up to Christmas as a result.

The Irish Examiner reports that one of the people was who was arrested had also been arrested in Dublin days earlier for similar reasons.

She had travelled to Cork to beg in advance of a court in Dublin following her arrest. 

A number of traders in the city have noticed the increase in the practice and say those in question come prepared to sleep in doorways overnight.
