Concern for growing number of workplace fatalities in Cork
The Health and Safety Authority is to target Cork over the next 12 months as the number of workplace fatalities in the county are on the rise. Serious concern has been expressed by the authority at the high number of workplace fatalities in Cork which last year saw 12 people die in work related accidents - which is a jump on the previous year's figures. The HSA said the fatality rate in Cork has been consistently higher compared to any other county for the last number of years and as a result they plan to carry out additional inspections across the county this year.
