Concern Over Garda Cutbacks in Cork

Concerns are being raised about the early closures of garda stations in Cork city. A special public meeting on the subject is being held this afternoon. Under new plans - Barrack Street garda station will be relocated to Anglesea Street station - which will be closing early along with Togher, Mayfield and Gurranabraher. Lord Mayor Cllr John Buttimer has been expressing serious concerns about how these early closures will affect policing in the city. He's particularly worried about Barrack Street station which provides garda cover for the college area.
