Concerns expressed over possible 'two-tier' refugee system in Ireland

The call comes from Cork based NASC.

A Cork based immigrant support centre is calling on the government not to sideline the refugees in the direct provision system in Ireland while they deal with the cuurent refugee crisis.

NASC say welcomed the government's response to the crisis by welcoming 4,000 refugees into the country but they are concerned that it could lead to a two tiered system.

They say by not placing the new refugees in the current system, the government are saying it's not fit for purpose but they have yet to make significant reforms.

Speaking to RedFM News, NASC's Jennifer de Wan says the government need to ensure that refugees currently in the direct provision system are not forgotten.
