CIF: Government Must Do More To Ensure Projects Are Completed To Support Projected Population Growth

Streamlining the planning process will NOT result in projects being forced through despite objections.
That's according to the Construction Industry Federation who say the planning and procurement process must be shortened for Cork to become an effective counterbalance to Dublin.
The Federation say the government must do more to ensure roads, school and houses are built to support a projected population growth of 1 million people living and working outside Dublin by 2040.
CIF say that while many global companies are established in Cork and housing supply is improving, public sector investment in critical infrastructure is not keeping up.
Speaking to RedFM News, Conor O'Connell from the Construction Industry Federation says speeding up the planning process will go some of the way towards reaching targets set out in the Project Ireland Plan:
