Cork Airport's debt to be discussed at crisis summit

A crisis summit on Cork airport is being held this week where the airport's debt issues will be discussed. The head of the DAA has agreed to attend the meeting where he'll be asked by Cork TD Áine Collins to park Cork Airport's debt. It recently emerged on the Neil Prendeville Show, that the debt the airport is servicing from the building of the new terminal has nearly doubled and now stands at over €200 million. However many Fine Gael TDs including Simon Coveney and Jerry Buttimer say issues other than the debt are at play and are contributing to the decline in passenger numbers and the loss of routes. Speaking to RedFM News Jobs and Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton, says Cork still has a strong airport and he confirmed he's been in discussions about the airport's growth path.
