Cork Athlete to receive Olympic Bronze Medal in City Hall this evening
The City Hall is preparing for the large numbers of wellwishers who will attend a Gala Meal Ceremony for Olympian Rob Heffernan this evening.
The World Champion Gold Medalist will receive his bronze medal from the 2012 Olympics, at 7pm this evening.
The Corkman finished fourth in the 50Km walk in London, but was upgraded following the disqualification of the Russian Gold medalist Sergei Kirdyapkin for doping.
Fellow Olympians Derval O'Rourke, Gary O'Donovan and Annalise Murphy will be in attendance as well as family, friends and members of the public who snapped up the tickets.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville show on Cork's RedFM Rob Heffernan says there is huge interest in the event and the reality is only sinking in now:
