Cork boxer slams Saunders' comments 'women are there for sex'

19-year-old Christina Desmond who trains out of Macroom boxing club says some form of disciplinary action should be taken.

A Cork boxer has slammed comments by British boxer Billy Joe Saunders that women "are there for sex" and should not be in the boxing ring.

Christina Desmond who trains out of Macroom boxing club and has won world Silver and European bronze medals on the Ireland team echoed the comments of Ireland's World and Olympic champion Katie Taylor in saying she feels sorry for Saunders wife and his daughter if this is the only opinion he has of women.

 


 

The 25-year-old's comments have been widely condemned on social media and have sparked outrage in the boxing community.
