Cork Charity appeal for food this Christmas

St. Vincent de Paul has received over 5,000 requests for Christmas hampers this year and have changed their appeal from toys to food this Christmas
People are cutting back on food and fuel this year in order to keep their heads above water.
That's according to St Vincent de Paul who have switched their appeal from toys to food this Christmas.
The charity has received over 5,000 requests for Christmas hampers and says they're now driving a big push to try and cater for everyone.
Speaking to RedFM News Regional Vice President of St Vincent de Paul Brendan Dempsey says they're focusing on food and fuel this Christmas and education will also be a priority for the charity in 2017.
