Cork Charity Warns Of Scam Street Collectors

Cork Penny Dinners has received reports of fraudulent people collecting in car parks and outside shopping centres
A Cork charity is warning people to be hyper aware of scammers who claim they're collecting money for homeless charities.
Cork Penny Dinners is urging people not to donate to fake collectors after the organisation received a number of reports of people collecting in car parks and outside shopping centres claiming to be part of the charity
The charity has moved to remind listeners that the only time they partake in street fundraising is at Christmas time
They're appealing to the public to take a number of steps if they are approached by a scam collector, including asking the person for a permit, taking a picture of the culprit and reporting the incident to the Gardai
Catríona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners told RedFM News that it is easy to recognise legitimite collectors for their charity:
