Cork Church leaders condemn attack on Muslic Cleric in the city

Leaders from four churches in Cork have come together to publicly condemn an attack of a Muslim Cleric in the city last week.
Imam Ahmed was knocked over on Cathedral Rd on the northside of the city last Wednesday evening.
He was wearing full clerical attire at the time and as well as injuries to his hand his hat was stolen - which has sparked fears the attack was because of his faith.
The Cork ecumenical secretaries who represent the Catholic Church, Church of Ireland, the Methodist Church, and the Presbyterian Church have since met with the Cork Muslim Foundation to show their solidarity and to send message that these attacks will not be tolerated by any of their faiths.
Parish priest of Frankfield Fr Christy Fitzgearld was one of the church leaders at the meeting and he told RedFM News that he felt it was important to show solidarity:
