Cork City Council Moves To Defend The "We Are Cork" Initiative
                            Almost €300,000 has been spent on the project
The marketing strategy was created by both local authorities in Cork along with a number of stakeholders Leeside and was launched in recent weeks in a bid to promote Cork which is set to be one of the fastest growing regions in the next twenty years under the Ireland 2040 plan.
However the spend has come under fire with critics saying the money could have been better spent tackling issues such as housing and homelessness.
However speaking to RedFM News Pat Ledwidge of Cork City Council says the marketing push is an investment in Cork's future targeting population growth and foreign direct investment which in turn generates revenue for other areas:
