Cork City Council To Request Permission To Restore & Conserve Shake Bridge

Cork City Council are to request permission to carry out restoration and conservation work on the iconic Shaky Bridge today.
It's hoped tenders will be awarded by the end of the year and that the bridge will be reopened by midsummer next year.
Known locally as the Shaky Bridge, Daly's Bridge was opened in 1927 and is the only surviving pedestrian suspension bridge of its type and age in the county.
The Irish Examiner reports that the restoration work will dampen some of the bridges shake, but will not eliminate it completely.
