Cork City To Be Included In Childcare Scheme For Those In Emergency Accomodation

Cork city is set to be included in a childcare scheme for people in emergency accommodation.

The programme, which grants children under five 25 hours of free childcare a week and a daily meal, currently operates in Dublin but is now being rolled out to 8 more parts of the country, including Cork City

Children's Minister Katherine Zappone says the cost of childcare prevents parents from taking up work and education opportunities, and the scheme is aimed at 'lifting that barrier for those families in greatest need'.
