Cork contingent to travel to US in bid to progress transatlantic flights

Delays in the granting of a US permit are being blamed for the deferral of the service.
St Patrick's Day celebrations in the US will be used as a platform to help in securing the planned transatlantic flights at Cork Airport.
Senior management from the airport and the DAA as well as Cork Chamber of Commerce are among a contingent of diplomats due to travel to the US in the lead up to March 17th in a bid to get the green light for the flights.
Norwegian Airlines who planned to operate the Cork to Boston route issued a statement last month confirming they would be unable to launch the service this May as planned.
Delays in the granting of a US permit to the airline are being blamed for the reason the service has been deferred.
Speaking to RedFM News Cheif Executive of Cork Chamber of Commerce Conor Healy says they're in the process of arranging meetings in both Boston and Washington:
