Cork County Council spent €15,000 replacing stolen or vandalised lifebuoys last year

Up to 300 lifebuoys have to be replaced by the council on a yearly basis

A number of life rings have had to be replaced over the weekend after they were stolen at the Glashaboy River in Glanmire.

According to a report in the Evening Echo it's not the first time rings have gone missing in the area.

The County council described the act as mindless and say people's lives are at risk as a result.
