Cork father relieved son in Nepal is safe

An earthquake with a 7.8 magnitude hit the area at the weekend.
A Cork father says he's relieved his son who was climbing in the Nepal area when the earthquake struck at the weekend, is out of danger
Jim Power's son Roger was climbing Mount Everest 24 hours before Base camp was hit by a devastating avalanche killing at least 18 climbers
in its wake.
Nepal was rocked by a 7.8 magnitude quake on Saturday which claimed the lives of more than 5,000 people and flattened entire towns and villages.
Jim didn't hear from his son until three days after the avalanche hit so he went through a very worrying few days.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show he says Roger has now been airlifted to Katmandhu but Jim says his son has no idea how devastated the capital is.
