Cork Flood Relief Scheme Open For Public Consultation
Cork's long awaited flood protection plan is open for public consultation.
Detail of the €140 million scheme - the biggest flood relief scheme ever undertaken in Ireland - was unveiled by Junior Minister Sean Canney at an event in the city yesterday.
Cork has been devastated by five severe floods over the past 8 years which has left many home and business owners incurring huge costs and operating without flood cover.
The five year scheme will be constructed in five separate phases with the first element to begin at Morrissons Island next year to protect 900 affected homes and 12 hundred businesses.
