Cork Had Highest Number Of Child Sex Abuse Referrals In The First Three Months Of This Year
Figures from Tusla show there were 151 referrals in Cork City and County.
Over 1,000 reports were made across the country between January and the end of March, compared to 770 in the same quarter in 2018.
Referrals for emotional abuse have doubled with more than 3,600 incidents recorded, while there have been small increases in physical abuse or neglect.
The executive director of the Children at Risk in Ireland Foundation, Eve Farrelly, says child sex abuse remains a major issue:
