Cork has the worst road safety record in the country

Motorists across the city and county are being urged to get involved in ‘Irish Road Safety Week’. It comes after Cork was singled out for holding one of the worst road safety records in the country with 16 fatalities recorded on Cork roads this year alone - five more than the same time last year. As part of the safety week gardaí will mount a crackdown from early tomorrow morning on motorists driving with bald or faulty tyres. Speaking to RedFM News Inspector Finbarr O'Sullivan of Angelsea St traffic corps says cars need to be checked ahead of winter as road conditions deteriorate:
