Cork Hospitals Experiencing Severe Overcrowding Today
63 people are lying on trollies in the overcrowded emergency departments at Cork University and Mercy University Hospitals today.
The figures come as managment at the two hospitals are advising listeners that they are continuing to experience significant overcrowding today.
The public are being asked to only attend the ED in cases of genuine emergency and advising where possible to attend a GP, Southdoc or Urgent Care Centre in the first instance.
Anyone presenting at the ED in CUH or the Mercy are being advised that due to the very high numbers currently attending the departments there may be long delays for patients attending with minor ailments.
The public is being assured that staff and management are working to prioritise the discharge of patients.
