Cork based ISPCA Animal Welfare Inspector Backs Calls For Animal Welfare Syllabus in Schools

The Department of Education to introduce an animal welfare programme for primary schools.

It follows reports of a recent alleged animal cruelty incident in Kilkenny, where a cat was mauled to death having been thrown to a pack of dogs.

The ISPCA have raised concerns about the increased level of reports of animal cruelty among younger people across Cork city and county, and say education is the key to reducing such incidents.

So far this year, the agency say they have logged over 400 calls of potential cruelty cases in the Cork region.
