Cork Landlords who leave properties vacant should be charged

Property owners should be charged for properties left vacant in Cork City.
That's according to the Green Party who say the number of buildings registered derelict with the City Council outnumber the amount available to rent.
Once a building has been registered derelict, landlords do not pay property tax.
The Greens are now calling for the introduction of a site tax to replace the property tax in order to prevent speculators sitting on properties until their commercial value rises.
The party says these units could then be used as social housing to ease the crisis currently being experienced Leeside.
Speaking to RedFM News the Greens Oliver Moran says these units need to be released so that every day people can move into them:
