Cork local authorities given ten days to generate a housing action plan
Emergency powers and legislation will be used to get the plans off the ground
The newly appointed Minister for Housing has given local authorities Leeside 10 days to generate an action plan for housing.
Today's Evening Echo reports that Cork TD Simon Coveney is pressing local authorities such as Cork city and county councils to initiate extensive house building programmes over the next six months.
It's understood emergency powers and legislation will be used to get the plans off the ground.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Simon Coveney acknowledged that Cork has a homeless problem and says he is committed to working to increase affordable housing supply
