Cork man with paralysis to use robotic exo-skeleton to walk marathon
The 26-year-old is 85% paralyzed.
A Cork man who is 85% paralysed will walk a marathon with the help of an ultra-advanced robotic exo-skeleton.
26 year old Nathan Kirwan from Currabinny severed his spinal cord when he fell from a tree two years ago which left him
paralysed from the chest down.
However he is now to attempt 55,000 steps in the exo-skeleton machine over a five month duration around Cork City and suburbs to raise funds to keep the device in Ireland.
Nathan is appealing for the public to sponsor just €2 for every step he takes during this 'Walk with Me Challenge' to cover the cost of purchasing Ireland's first gym-based exoskeleton.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show Nathan describes how the device helps him.
