Cork Mother vows to escalate protest walk pending outcome of Dail Medicinal Cannabis Debate

A Cork mother says she'll be continuing her walk to the Dáil from her Aghabullogue home if a Dáil debate on medicinal cannabis doesn't bring about change.

Vera Twomey's daughter Ava requires CBD, a cannabis oil, in order to reduce the number of seizures she has because of a rare form of epilepsy however the substance is currently illegal in Ireland.

The Blarney woman set up a petition to change the law to allow access to medicinal cannabis and last week month mounted a protest walk to the Dáil in a bid to highlight the issue.

She suspended the walk in Mallow after receiving a call from the Health Minister who pledged his full support for her campaign.

A Dáil debate taking place on the topic on Thursday night and Vera is calling for support for a vigil she's holding outside Leinster house on the night.

Speaking to RedFM News Vera says she has already advised Minister Simon Harris that if the outcome of the Dáil debate on Thursday night is not positive she'll have no choice but to escalate her protest walk:
