Cork pensioners to receive €5 in pension payments

40,000 pensioners across Cork are set to receive the first increase in their pension payment since 2009.
The Government announced the €5 euro increase in the last budget, and this measure will come into effect on Friday.
Age Action Ireland has welcomed the modest increase, but criticized the Government for not implementing the increase in January of this year as promised.
However the advocacy group says there are many senior citizens across the city and county who are living below the poverty line, as many other payment such as the fuel allowance, and the telephone allowance have not been restored.
Speaking to RedFM News Age Action Spokesperson Justin Moran says the increase is a step in the right direction:
