Cork Postmaster Fears For The Future Of His Business
Concerns have been raised for rural Ireland if post offices are forced to close
A postmaster with 37 years experience running a post office in East Cork fears he will be out of business within 5 years
Paddy O'Shea who runs the post office in Aghada took part in a national demonstration organised by the Irish Postmasters' Union outside the Department of Communications yesterday.
The union has pulled out of talks with An Post about their future but the company says it's hopeful they will start again as they described the negotiations as productive and positive.
The radical restructuring plan could see up to 200 post offices closing around the country and Paddy O'Shea says if this comes about it will be a huge loss to rural Ireland
However speaking to RedFM News at the protest Paddy admits that he has been steadily losing money and he expects to lose €10,000 next year as more people are conducting their business online
