Cork schools advise parents not to send children to school on Monday

A number of Cork schools have begun contacting parents advising them not to send their children to school next week as they cannot guarantee their safety.
17 hundred teachers from the ASTI union are set to withdraw from supervision and substitution duties on Monday in their row over pay and conditions.
Talks between union officials and the Department of Education may not resume until tomorrow in a bid to avert the action.
Some schools across Cork have issued letters to parents requesting that they do not send their children to school on Monday until further notice.
