Cork Senator calls on Catholic Church to be more inclusive

Senator Jerry Buttimer believes the Church should reflect a modern, evolving world
A Cork senator is calling on the Church to be more inclusive to reflect a modern, evolving world.
Senator Jerry Buttimer trained to be a priest for five years in Maynooth before returning to lay life and believes it's now time that the Catholic hierarchy examined celibacy and the role of gay and divorced people in the Church
Jerry Buttimer is openly gay and a committed Catholic and he was sharing his views in the wake of allegations that a gay sub culture is operating among seminarians in Maynooth College.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM he pointed to the Protestant faith and how well inclusion works in the Church of Ireland.
