Cork Simon Community Releases Annual Report
2015 was the busiest year on record for Cork Simon since the formation of the charity
In its annual report launched yesterday by Housing Minister Cork's Simon Coveney the demand for its services was outlined.
1,298 people were supported by the charity in 2015 and this year is on track to replicate last year's figures with over 200 people currently sleeping rough in Cork this year.
Cork Simon is now calling for empty properties in the city to be utilised and the construction of more social housing.
Speaking to RedFM news Paul Sheehan of Cork Simon says the recent increase in rent supplement is a step in the right direction:
