A Cork student is carrying the hopes of the nation on his shoulders at the European Young Scientist's Contest..
Simon Meehan, a student at Coláiste Choilm in Ballincollig, is representing Ireland at Dublin's RDS and hopes are high that Ireland will win the Contest for the 15th time.
139 students from 38 countries will compete for a 1st prize of €7,000 and 90 exhibits will be on display from today until next Wednesday..
Grace Bolton of the EU Commission says Ireland's great success in the 28-year history of the competition, is completely disproportionate to Ireland's size and the number of Irish students participating.
