Cork Taxi driver hits out at insurance costs

A Cork taxi driver has hit out at an insurance firm after he was quoted €8,500 to insure his cabs.
61 year old Gerard Geary, who has been working as a taxi driver for the past 40 years, admits that he did expect his policy to rise but it has now jumped 530% since 2014.
He says the quote is putting livelihoods at risk and has led him to parking up two of his six vehicles as he cannot afford the 2016 premiums being quoted.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Gerard says he has no claims on any of his vehicles and the insurance hike will ruin businesses.
