Cork TD Calling For This Years Leaving Cert To Be Cancelled
Mick Barry says failure to cancel the exams soon would risk the potential for an unacceptable level of mental health pressure on students.
The call follows the cancellation of the equivalent of the junior and leaving cert exams in the UK yesterday.
Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy Barry says he wants a Daíl debate on the issue
"Failure to constantly exams relatively soon will risk the potential for an unacceptable level of mental health pressures on a large number of Leaving Cert students. I think the exams should be cancelled. And I think there should now be a major investment in Third Level education to create a large number of extra college places, allowing students to access either their first or second choice options."
