Cork TD calls for crisis response team to increased suicides Leeside

A Cork TD has issued a fresh call for the immediate establishment of a crisis response team to deal a recent increase in suicides on the southside of the city.
In the space of just one month at least eight people have died by suicide.
Sinn Féin TD Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire says the government needs to replicate its response to the flooding crises across the county and bring together a number of bodies such as public representatives, Gardaí, the HSE and Túsla in a bid to address suicide rates.
The call follows recent figures which show that self-harm in Cork is almost twice the national average.
