Cork transatlantic flights move a step closer to approval

Norweigan Air International have been granted technical certification for the aircraft on the routes.
The airline planning to operate the first Cork transatlantic flights have secured one of the final regulatory steps in getting the flights off the ground.
The US Federal Aviation Administration has granted Norweigan Air International technical certification for the aircraft on the routes.
It means the airline are a step closer to getting the green light for the flights however the final decision still rests with the US Department of Transportation who have only tentatively granted a permit to the airline.
There's been stiff opposition to the routes in the US and full approval on the permit is now dependent on an adjudication period by the US Department of Transportation which will swing into action after today's deadline for submissions passes.
Speaking to RedFM News Head of Communications at Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane says the flights will benefit both the US and Ireland:
