Cork University Hospital Forced To Cancel Scheduled Procedures

The hospital was forced to cancel some scheduled operations due to the high volumes of people presenting over Easter
A total of 460 new patients presented for treatment between Friday and Sunday of which 195 required inpatient admission
The hospital put additional measures in place yesterday to address the demand however management alos had to cancel some planned admissions in order to manage the volumes. They say the position will be reviewed on a continuous basis today
Hospital Management requested that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP in the first instance and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.
