Cork urged to pitch for companies planning to relocate after Brexit

 Cork City's newly elected Lord Mayor has called on the Government to entice would-be UK companies to Ireland.

The leaders of the 27 other nations in the European Union will meet together - without the UK - for the first time since the referendum later.

David Cameron hasn't been asked to attend the second day of a summit in Brussels.

Cllr Des Cahill has said there is a huge opportunity for Ireland to pitch for companies that are looking to move their headquarters out of London.

American multinational Morgan Stanley has moved to dispell rumours that it is about to move over 2,000 staff to Dublin or Berlin after the Brexit vote however a number of other companies are rumoured to be planning to relocate their operations.

The newly elected Lord Mayor says that the IDA will need to move quickly if it is to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the UK.
