Cork's road traffic accident fatality rate has increased, which bucks the national trend.
So far this year, eleven lives have been lost on Cork roads in road traffic accidents, which represents an increase of three fatalities when compared to the same period in 2017.
Nationally, 88 people have lost their lives on Ireland's roads in 2018, a decrease of almost six and a half percent.
The figures have been released at a time when Gardai are asking motorists to think of others when using the roads.
And Road Safety Authority Instructor Stephen Murphy says inexperienced motorcyclists in particular need to take care this weekend.
