Counting Of Plebiscite On Directly Elected Mayors To Begin Later This Morning
Counting of the plebiscite on directly elected mayors is set to begin later this morning.
People in Cork City were asked whether they wanted to directly elect a mayor, for a five year term.
No tallies were completed for the plebiscites but it's expected the proposal will most likely be rejected.
Tánaiste Simon Coveney says the government may be prepared to ask the question again if the idea is shot down.
