County Mayor speaks out after protocol debacle erupts

The City's Lord Mayor refused to speak at an event in County Hall last night
The County Mayor has spoken out after the City's Lord Mayor refused to speak at an event in County Hall last night
Cllr Chris O'Leary was asked to address the event after the County Mayor and also at the end of the launch of a joint city and county council food promotion strategy - however he declined both offers..
The Lord Mayor of Cork has denied that his decision not to speak at the event was anything to do with his ego but he accused the county council of failing to adhere to protocol which requires the office holder to be the first speaker at any event within the city’s administrative area.
However speaking to RedFM News County Mayor John Paul O'Shea says it's normal procedure that if a launch is taking place at County Hall the County Mayor is always the first to speak
