Court of Appeal to look at longest sentence for drug smuggling

The 30 year sentence is the longest in the history of the state.

The Court of Criminal Appeal said it will look at the case of 56 year old Perry Wharrie afresh before sentencing him for drug smuggling offences on October 16th next.

The Englishman today appealed his 30 year sentence for drugs offences following a botched cocaine smuggling operation off the Cork Coast on July 2nd 2007.
