Crews of two ships involved in rescue of fishermen off Kinsale coast hailed for their efforts

The incident unfolded after 1am this morning when the crew of the "Horizon" were forced to abandon their boat after a fire broke out onboard.
The vessel sent out a mayday alert and was soon joined by the Vos Pathfinder and Maersk Maker ships who were working at the nearby Kinsale Gas Field.
Pathfinder located the crews bright orange life-raft just after 2:30am while the crew of the Maker used the ships' powerful fire fighting equipment to tackle the fire.
Courtmacsherry RNLI, the naval vessel LE George Bernard Shaw and Rescue Helicopter 117 also took part in the operation.
The Horizon has sunk, however no injuries have been reported.
The crew were taken back to shore by Courtmacsherry RNLI.
