Dangers of front-line policing highlighted by image of injured Cork garda

A graphic photo of an injured Cork Garda Sergeant has been publised by the organisation that represents middle-ranking Gardai to highlight the dangers of front line policing. Sergeant Dave Haughney sustained a serious eye-injury while on duty in Midleton in East Cork last year. He's now lost 75 percent of the vision in his left eye. The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors paid tribute to Sergeant Haughney, who has more than 20 years’ experience, at their annual conference in Trim, Co. Meath.
