Deadline looms for objections to incinerator

The planned facility by waste management company Indaver has been met with opposition.

A final meeting is being held in Carrigaline tonight in advance of the deadline for objections to the planned incinerator for Ringaskiddy.

The project has been met with stiff opposition from members of the local community with a protest march taking place in the town last week against the facility.

Earlier, it emerged that the Minister for Defense Simon Coveney will make a submission to An Bord Pleanála after indicating his opposition to the incinerator which he says is inconsistent with state investment in the harbour area.

Indaver has moved to allay fears and says that the development is needed as Ireland needs to manage its own waste instead of exporting it.

However, these protesters told RedFM News they have concerns about the incinerator's emissions.
