Decision On Incinerator Deferred For A 7th Time
The decision on a planned €140 million euro incinerator in Cork Harbour has been deferred for a seventh time.
An Bord Pleanala was due to decide this week on whether to allow an application from waste management company Indaver to build the waste to energy facility at Ringaskiddy.
The longest running planning saga is set to continue as the date for decision has now been deferred to December the 5th.
A spokesperson for the State planning agency says the only other major project comparable to the proposed incinerator was the Shell / Corrib gas project.
There has been huge opposition to the proposed facility since the first planning application was lodged by Indaver in 200.
Cork Harbour for A Safe Environment have opposed the plans from the beginning and have expressed their lack of faith in the planning process because of the constant delays.
Speaking to RedFM News CHASE spokesperson Linda Fitzpatrick says the local community are reeling from this latest deferral:
