Defence Forces Wives Group Says 'Unprecedented' Naval Staff Shortages Ongoing
The Wives and Partners of the Defence Forces group says crew shortgaes are preventing naval ships going to sea
A group set up to support families of the Defence Forces is claiming that ships can't go to sea due to a shortage of crew.
That's one of the claims made by the Wives and Partners of the Defence Forces group who says last week's figures revealing an "unprecedented" exodus of personnel from the naval service is not surprising.
Seventy-one people have sought to be discharged from the Naval Service so far this year with with low rates of pay and allowances some of the factors influencing retention rates.
Speaking to RedFM News, Shelley Cotter of WPDF says the only action that will help the Defence Forces out of their freefall is to increase rates of pay.
