Delays not expected for new blood transfusion centre for Cork

It follows significant delays since recent years in getting the facility up and running.
It's hoped the major new blood transfusion centre planned for Cork, won't experience the same delays as it did in the past.
In 2008, the government gave the go-ahead for a new 17 million euro centre but it failed to materialise.
The Health Minister Leo Varadker has now given the new blood transfusion facility the green light and it's planned to be on the grounds of Cork University Hospital.
The centre will include a donation clinic, blood banking for CUH, reference work for Munster region and a stockholding unit.
Speaking to RedFM News, Chief Executive of the IBTS Andrew Kelly says there has been a commitment from all the parties involved to ensure the next stages go ahead.
